Assignment Record– Rev. John C. Albino

Summary of Case: John C. Albino was a priest of the Archdiocese of New York, ordained in 1990. He was assigned as an assistant to parishes in Manhattan, Beacon, the Bronx, and Staten Island.

In a June 2001 lawsuit Albino was accused, along with three Carmelite priests, of sexually abusing a teenage boy during 1996-1998 at St. Simon Stock parish in the Bronx. The boy was working as a secretary at the parish. The priests allegedly gave the boy money in exchange for sexual favors and had him watch them perform group masturbation. They also were said to have threatened to harm the boy if he told. Albino reportedly was sent to treatment and removed from ministry. The lawsuit, which was against the Carmelite Order and St. Simon Stock, resulted in a settlement.

• Albino was accused in a June 2001 lawsuit, along with three other priests, of sexually abusing a teenage boy between January 1996 and August 1998. The boy was working as a secretary at St. Simon Stock parish in the Bronx during the alleged incidents. The other priests, who were Carmelites, were St. Simon's pastor Rev. Ruben Rodriguez and Revs. Esteban Rodriguez and James Tamburrino. Their accuser said the priests would give him money in exchange for sexual favors, and that he witnessed them engaging in group masturbation. He said the priests threatened to hurt him if he told.

Albino is not indexed in the 1998 Directory, nor is he listed in the New York pages as at his previous or next assignments.

Although news reports place Albino at St. Simon Stock, the Directories do not.

The lawsuit, which was against the Carmelite Order and St. Simon Stock, was settled.
