DC 5/6 Per a Georgetown Voice news article of 4-23-98, five nieces of William J. Walsh, S.J. reported having been sexually abused by him as children, in the 1950s. The nieces initially reported the abuse in 1996 while Walsh was in China. The Jesuits then moved him to Georgetown University.

A William Walsh (no middle initial, ordained in '67) appears for the first time and is listed at the Ferdinand Wheeler Jesuit Community in Baltimore MD. Another Jesuit, William P. Walsh, was ordained in '67, but he is listed elsewhere. A 2001 Boston College Lonergan Institiute Workshop schedule shows a William J. Note: The Official Catholic Directory aims to report the whereabouts of Catholic priests in the United States on January 1 of the Directory's publication year. Our working assumption is that a priest listed in the Directory for a given year was at the same assignment for part of the previous year as well. However, Kenedy & Sons will sometimes accept updates well into the year of publication. Diocesan clergy records are rarely available to correct this information. The Directory is also sometimes misleading or wrong. We have tried to create an accurate assignment record, given the source materials and their limitations.
