Named publicly as accused by the diocese on its list 2/6/2019. From Holland. Arrived in the U.S. in 1956. Suspended from active ministry in 1979. Died in 2006. Allegation to the Review Board in 2006 of the sexual abuse of a male minor in 1967. A 2019 review of Van Hoorn’s file showed evidence of another credible allegation of the abuse of a male minor. Accused in a lawsuit filed in 8/2020 of abusing a first- or second-grade boy at Sacred Heart of Jesus in Pineville, in 1962-1963. The suit claims Van Hoorn “raped and sexually assaulted many young boys.”
